We're a small group, mainly from Helsinki, Finland - dedicated to creating eco-economical solutions.
We do everything on a shoestring budget, which is both good and bad. We can't do all the amazing stuff that we'd like to show you (yet) but this also means that anything we come up with can be reproduced simply and cost effectively.
Incase you want to support the project we have an effective gofundme campaign.
Basically we have little raw materials so we recycle a lot of materials, we also have the space and access to tools (yay, Fablab!) that allow us to continue our work.
We are also starting to collaborate with people around the world to bring Showerloop to where they need it, be it a boat, an RV, a house in the woods, a far off Pacific Island, a brand new hay bale house or a really old building. The possibilities are endless and together we can create them all.
We're currently looking for a suitable business model that would encourage a community around social and environmental ethics and the open source circular economy.
JOIN THE WET SIDE
We are also looking for new team members, supporters or advisors to speed up our development process in technical, business, and community development terms.
Designers, makers, communicators and just interested people are welcome.
Real time water quality monitoring: Currently we monitor water quality subjectively (smell, color, looking) and somewhat with pH and conductivity. Proper surface tension, turbidity and microbiological equipment would be needed but it's just too expensive for everyone to use such things, let alone a liquid column chromatography. We currently have two options; use a small kit to test what we can and periodically send water samples to us or local bio-hacklabs / regular labs OR we produce some inexpensive turbidity sensors. With empirical data we can go quite far, the flow sensor also works as a measure of filter capacity, as the flow rate decreases it is because of particles in the filter increasing pressure and slowing down the flow rate of water. This can be measured somewhat accurately and should work for 95% of the cases we'd see. But knowledge is empowering.
